Work Begins on National Film School Building
29 Jul 2010 | Work is to begin in two weeks on the site of IADT's new National Film School. The project, which has been awarded €5 million by Minister for Education and Skills, Mary Coughlan TD, will see the building of Ireland's first HD television studio. The building is to open for Sep/Oct 2011. 
Tyrell CCT Appointed as EditShare Channel Partner
29 Jul 2010 | Tyrell CCT, provider of digital media solutions in the UK and Ireland, has announced that the company has been appointed as an authorised channel partner for Editshare, the technology leader in cross platform collaborative editing and shared media storage systems. The partnership has already secured a key customer win with PricewaterhouseCoopers, (PwC), a leading professional services firm. 
£22m Return in NIS Financial Report
28 Jul 2010 | Northern Ireland Screen‘s annual report for the year 2009 - 2010 has been published and shows a return of £22 million to the local economy through the group’s main production investment fund. One of the biggest success stories for the group was ‘Your Highness’ which brought in £11.78 million of this. 
Expert Air Awarded FACT Security Accreditation
26 Jul 2010 | Expert Air has announced that it has been awarded the FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft) Certificate of Accreditation. The transport solutions company is now the only Irish-owned company to have received this accreditation which will enhance the level of service the company can provide to the film and media industry, helping them address customers’ security concerns against anti-piracy. 
Tyrell Supplies ScreenScene’s Third Terrablock
22 Jul 2010 | Screen Scene, one of Ireland's largest post production facilities, has expanded its shared storage system by adding a third Facilis Terrablock storage solution to accommodate the requirements of the facility's growing graphics division. 
Minister Ryan Switches on Exemplar Network
20 Jul 2010 | Communications Minister Eamon Ryan has switched on the Government’s Exemplar Network. This is globally unique fibre-optic communications network using patented Irish technology will now allow for the high-speed and high-quality transfer of electronic data. 
Eurotek Brings Digital Ad Network to The Square
20 Jul 2010 | Ireland’s Eurotek and advertising group, CBS Outdoor have recently finished work on a mammoth project in Tallaght’s The Square shopping centre as part of the centre’s new €250 million redevelopment plan. 
Windmill Lane Opens 'Lock Out', 36 VFX Jobs Created
16 Jul 2010 | Irish post house, Windmill Lane Pictures is currently creating a new film visual effects production facility in Sandyford in order to carry out post production work on 'Lock Out’ [working title], a new sci-fi feature film that is to start shooting in Belgrade towards the end of the year. Windmill Lane will produce all the visual effects its new Dublin facility. 
Avid Upgrade for Reelgood
16 Jul 2010 | Dublin based facility Reelgood has made a significant investment in the upgrade of its Avid technology to facilitate an increasing workload and the demands of HD production. Working with Tyrell CCT, the facility has upgraded all of their edit suites to Media Composer V5, taking advantage of the latest features including support for tapeless media, stereoscopic workflows and real-time HD editing. 
Irish Talent Receives Six Primetime Emmy Nominations
08 Jul 2010 | Irish television talent has come away with six well-deserved Primetime Emmy nominations. ‘The Tudors’ has been nominated for its art direction, cinematography, costumes and hair and make-up whilst Michael Gambon’s acting has been lauded as has ‘Celtic Woman’s David Downes for his music direction. The awards will take place on August 29th. 
Screenscene Gets Nuke-d
05 Jul 2010 | Post production group, Screenscene has become the first Irish company to invest heavily in a multi seat Nuke X deployment in its VFX division. The group has heavily expanded its compositing department by investing in multiple licenses of The Foundry’s Nuke X compositing software allowing the facility to host a significant number of seats for its visual effects artists.

Working Title Fill Gary Shore's 'Cup of Tears'
17 Jun 2010 | Gary Shore (The Draught) put his blood, sweat and tears into a trailer for ‘Cup of Tears’, a live action version of Japanese animation. The short trailer did a rapid tour through hundreds of LA inboxes and now UK company Working Title have come on board to transform Shore’s trailer into a large scale feature film. The director spoke to IFTN about his project’s extraordinary journey thus far... 
Specialist AV Invests in Final Cut Pro System
15 Jun 2010 | Tyrell CCT recently provided leading Irish duplication facility, Specialist AV, with a new Apple Final Cut Pro Editing System to accommodate file to tape duplication. Using high-end Apple hardware and software, Specialist AV can now take finished media direct from their client’s hard drive and master to a wide range of formats including Beta SP, DV, HDV, Digi-Beta and HDCam. 
Egg Introduces Nucoda Film Master
08 Jun 2010 | In the past few weeks post production house Egg has installed and put to use a Nucoda Film Master 4k/2k colour grading and finishing system. Delivered last month, the system has already been used to grade Finnish romantic comedy ‘Lapland Odyssey’ by Egg colourist Sebastian Guest and is now being used to grade two further features.

Tyrell Supplies IT Carlow with Avid Technology
31 May 2010 | Tyrell CCT has announced that it has delivered a high performance media storage and ingest solution to The Institute of Technology Carlow. The advanced storage solution incorporates two 16TB Avid Unity ISIS shared storage systems and MOG Technologies mxfSpeedRail S1000 ingest solution, enabling IT Carlow to provide their media students with the latest digital infrastructure. 
BDA invests in Tyrell CCT Avid Technology
