11 Mar 2010 Q&A With Special Effects Make-Up Artist Rick Baker
Special effects make-up artist Rick Baker has been creating monsters of the friendly and scary variety for over 30 years. The multi Oscar winner is behind such film creatures as the Grinch, Gremlins, Wolfman and the zombies in both Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ and those of ‘Men in Black’ to name just a few. As part of a new Masters Series of interviews, IFTN caught up with the makeup maestro to ask him about his inspirations, his favourite creatures and the battle of make-up versus CGI. more

‘Horses’, a new feature documentary from Liz Mermin which follows a year in the lives of three Irish racehorses as they partake in races, training and encounter memorable characters daily, will broadcast on RTE One on March 16. The multi-award winning Irish atmospheric feature film ‘The Eclipse’ will screen on RTÉ1 on March, 17th. 11 Mar 2010 ‘The Fading Light’ Screenings Brighten Up IFI
The Irish Film Institute will host exclusive screenings of Irish writer, director and editor Ivan Kavanagh’s award-winning ‘The Fading Light’ from March 12th to 18th. The screenings will be run as part of the Institute’s ongoing commitment to new Irish film. The film walked away with honours for both Best Irish Film and Best Actor (for Patrick O’Donnell) from the 2010 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival’s. more

11 Mar 2010 ‘Triage’ Opening Belfast Festival
The 10th annual Belfast Film Festival will open with the gala Irish premiere screening of Danis Tanovic’s ‘Triage’. This year’s festival will feature screenings of Irish and World cinema works, workshops, an acting masterclass with ‘Sliding Doors’ star John Lynch, short films and documentaries. The event will run from April 15th to 30th. more

11 Mar 2010 ‘Zonad’ Crash Lands into Irish Cinemas
‘Zonad’, a new Irish feature from John and Kieran Carney, hits cinemas on Wednesday, March 17th. To mark this arrival IFTN caught up with the IFTA nominated actor who fills ‘Zonad’s latex jumpsuit, Simon Delaney, to talk Harvey Weinstein, singing to schoolgirls and having to choose between film and theatre. more

The Indian Film Festival Ireland (IFFI), Ireland’s first dedicated Indian Film Festival will take place in Swan Cinemas Rathmines from 25 – 28 June. The IFFI aims to celebrate and highlight the potential of Indian film in Ireland by introducing Indian films to Irish audiences throughout the four day event. more

Celebrating its 15th year, the St. Patrick's Festival takes place this year from 12 - 17 March with over one million people expected to take part in festival events in celebration of all things Ireland. Coco television and RTÉ One will bring coverage of the festival’s annual Skyfest, the St. Patrick’s Day parade and highlights of the festival’s six days and nights. more
