'One Hundred Mornings' Scoops Distribution Award
29 Jul 2010 | Conor Horgan’s ‘One Hundred Mornings’ has won the inaugural WorkBook Project Discovery and Distribution Award which seeks to highlight an outstanding film that they feel has been overlooked in terms of US distribution. 
‘Free your Film’ With Darklight
28 Jul 2010 | Sony Ericsson has collaborated with the Darklight Festival to find three aspiring film makers in Ireland, and help them make a short film each. The competition finalists will receive a €3,000 budget, a Sony Ericsson Vivaz HD video/camera phone and production support to make their short film. The finished shorts will be premiered on the opening night of the Darklight Festival, 28 October 2010. 
Kerry FF Showcases Irish Shorts in Soho
28 Jul 2010 | The Kerry Film Festival (KFF), which this year celebrates its 11th anniversary, has partnered with the upcoming Rushes Soho Short Film Festival in an effort to promote Irish short films. This partnership is to be the first of many international partnerships the KFF is looking to set up as a means of promoting Irish shorts. 
Rebecca O’Brien Talks Co-Production
26 Jul 2010 | As part of this year’s Galway Film Fleadh Media Antenna’s Irish contingent, fronted by Eibhlín Ní Mhunghaile, hosted a co-producers’ dinner. Rebecca O’Brien (who has produced twelve of Ken Loach’s films since ‘Hidden Agenda’ in 1990) was invited to make a key note speech after dinner; her key points are reproduced below: 
GAZE Film Festival Comes of Age
26 Jul 2010 | The Dublin Lesbian and Gay International Film Festival will this year celebrate its 18th anniversary. The festival runs from Thursday, July 29th to Monday, August 2nd in the Light House Cinema, Dublin. This year’s GAZE will see features, documentaries and shorts from countries such as Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Switzerland, China, Sweden, Ireland, Norway, New Zealand, UK and USA. 
Dearbhla Walsh 'In Conversation with…' IFTA
19 Jul 2010 | The Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) will this week host an ‘In Conversation with…’ Emmy award winning Irish director, Dearbhla Walsh. Also coming soon - the Academy will welcome screenwriter Graham Linehan for an ‘In Conversation with…’ in August and will host to a Pro MAC Trends Makeup Masterclass. 
Irish Projects to Screen at Traverse Film Fest
16 Jul 2010 | Multi award-winning Irish features including Ken Wardrop's ‘His & Hers’, Tomm Moore's ‘The Secret of Kells’ and John and Kieran Carney’s ‘Zonad’ have been selected to screen at the Traverse City Film Festival as have Irish shorts ‘The Crush’ and ‘The Pool’. The Michigan-based event was founded by Academy Award-winning Michael Moore (Bowling for Columbine). 
Filmbase to Present The Best of the West
16 Jul 2010 | Smithfield’s Lighthouse Cinema will play host to ‘The Best of the West 2010’ on Sunday, July 25th. The event has been organised as a chance for Dublin audiences to catch the winning short films from this year's Galway Film Fleadh. 
Lelia Doolan Talks a Lifetime of Irish TV & Film
14 Jul 2010 | As a driving force to be reckoned with in the Irish film and television sector, Lelia Doolan has, it would appear, tried her hand at all aspects of the Irish arts and made a lasting positive mark on every single one. She is without doubt someone we all need to thank for her enormous role in whipping Irish cinema and television into shape. Said debt of gratitude was this year officially recognised by her Galway Film Fleadh co-founders and the Irish Film and Television Academy who joined forces to celebrate Lelia with an ‘In Conversation with…’ event and the presentation to her of the prestigious Galway Hooker award at the festival’s closing ceremony. 
Irish Shorts at Rushes Soho Shorts Fest
14 Jul 2010 | Both ‘The Pool’ from Thomas Hefferon (Loose Change) and ‘Cold Turkey’ by Gavin Keane have been officially selected to screen this year at the Rushes Soho Shorts Festival in the event’s International category. The title sequence from TG4 series ‘Na Cloigne’ has also been selected to compete at the festival in the Broadcast Design group. The festival runs from the 21st to the 31st of July. 
'The Runway' Lands Best Irish Feature at Fleadh
12 Jul 2010 | The Galway Film Fleadh Closing Ceremony saw Ian Power’s ‘The Runway’ take the event’s Best Irish Feature title, whilst Risteard Ó Domhnaill’s ‘The Pipe’ claimed the award for Best Feature Documentary and ‘Undertow’ from Javier Fuentes-Leon (Espacios) was dubbed the Best First Feature. Furthermore, Fleadh co-founder Lelia Doolan was presented with the Galway Hooker award at the ceremony. 
Gleeson & Hubbards Step-in for Fleadh
08 Jul 2010 | It has been announced that, due to personal reasons, Annette Bening will not be present at the Galway Film Fleadh. The Actors Masterclass will be replaced by Ros and John Hubbard for a Casting Masterclass (July 10) and Emmy winning Irish actor Brendan Gleeson will take part in the public interview (July 11)

'Paradiso' Victorious at Arcipelago Fest
06 Jul 2010 | ‘Paradiso’ has walked away from the 2010 Arcipelago Rome Film Festival carrying the prize of Best Documentary Award. The film, directed by Alessandro Negrini and produced by Margo Harkin (Waveriders) is set in Derry and sees Northern Irish man, Roy Arbuckle decide it’s time to challenge one of the monstrosities left by the war: fear. 
Nuno Bernardo is Edinburgh TV Fest Panellist
06 Jul 2010 | Nuno Bernardo, Director of CR Entertainment has been confirmed as a speaker at the prestigious Media Guardian Edinburgh International TV festival being held in Edinburgh between the 27th and 29th of August. 
Galway Gives 'A Kiss for Jed Wood'
30 Jun 2010 | A late entry for the 2010 Galway Film Fleadh, Maurice Linnane’s 'A Kiss for Jed Wood' is to receive its first public screening at this year’s Galway Film Fleadh on Friday, July 9th. The film stars Mark O'Halloran (Adam and Paul), Jayne Wisener (Sweeney Todd) and Lee Arenberg (Pirates of the Caribbean). 
Neil Jordan Named Tokyo Jury President
30 Jun 2010 | The Tokyo International Film Festival has announced that Oscar winning Irish filmmaker, Neil Jordan is to be the Jury President at this year’s 23rd instalment of the festival. The festival runs from 23 – 31 of October 2010. 
McDermottroe’s ‘Swansong’ Screening in Munich
29 Jun 2010 | Sligo Actor, writer and director, Conor Mc Dermottroe’s debut feature film ‘Swansong- The story of Occi Byrne’ has been nominated in the category of Best First Feature at the 28th Film Festival in Munich. 
Oscar Invites for Ronan, O’Connell, Baneham & Bono
28 Jun 2010 | America’s Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has extended membership invitations to 135 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, animator Darragh O’Connell and visual effects artist Richard Baneham are among those honoured with said invitations.
