IFTA RECEPTION AT GALWAY FILM FLEADH

The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) held its annual Galway Film Fleadh reception at Ard Bia in the city's Spanish Arch. Attended by IFTA members, festival guests and delegates, the reception celebrated the Academy's support for the Peter O'Toole tribute during the Fleadh and raised awareness for IFTAs forthcoming screenings events.

IFTA members and their guests enjoyed the sunshine and atmosphere at Kobra Bar on Leeson Street for the annual Irish Film and Television Academy Summer Barbecue. The informal networking event helped introduce new members to the Academy and highlight the exciting lineup of events and screenings on the IFTA calendar.

IAN RANKIN IN CONVERSATION WITH COLIN BATEMAN

Ian Rankin in Conversation with Colin Bateman was the the Closing Night event of the Dublin Writers Festival in the Gate Theatre last Sunday June 15th. The scenario: Take one best-selling crime writer – Ian Rankin. Ask another major player in the genre – novelist and screenwriter Colin Bateman – to take the reins. Add some enlightened conversation, intriguing lines of enquiry and a few trade secrets. The verdict? A one-off contemporary crime classic. Dublin Writers Festival, an initiative of Dublin City Council supported by The Arts Council. Members of the Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) Writer's Chapter were offered tickets to this event.

The Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) hosted an exclusive preview screening of Irish filmed feature The Escapist at the Light House Cinema in Smithfield. Lead actors Brian Cox and Liam Cunningham participate in a post screening Q&A with Sunday Business Post journalist John Maguire and IFTA Academy members.
