‘Miss Julie’ secures U.S. Distribution Deal
06 Oct 2014 | Wrekin Hill Entertainment has bought all U.S. rights to ‘Miss Julie,’ starring Jessica Chastain (‘Zero Dark Thirty’, ‘The Help’), Colin Farrell and Samantha Morton (‘In America’, ‘Minority Report’). The deal comes three weeks after the film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

‘Patrick’s Day’ Picks up Two Awards at Michigan; Irish Rights Acquired by Wildcard
03 Oct 2014 | Terry McMahon’s film ‘Patrick’s Day’ has won two jury awards at the Hell’s Half Mile Film and Music Festival in Michigan. The film received prizes in the categories of Best Actor, which was awarded to Moe Dunford, as well as Best Screenplay which went to McMahon, who both wrote and directed the film.

01 Oct 2014 | For ‘Dracula Untold’, Luke Evans (‘The Hobbit’, ‘Fast & Furious 6’) takes on one of the most iconic roles of all time. The film marks the feature debut of Dublin director Gary Shore, who first established himself as a high-end commercials director and a director to watch out for following his short ‘The Draft’ and his faux film trailer for ‘The Cup of Tears’.

‘Songs for Amy’ Digital Release 1st October
26 Sep 2014 | Independent Irish film ‘Songs for Amy’ will be released digitally by Sonny and Skye Productions, in partnership with LA distributor Traverse Media, across a number of VOD platforms including iTunes, Googleplay and Vudu on October 1st, with Amazon to be added soon after.

‘Ellie the Ace’ Flies High
26 Sep 2014 | Cartoon Saloon, best-known as the studio behind Tomm Moore’s Oscar-nominated and IFTA award-winning feature ‘The Secret of Kells,’ is currently developing animated series ‘Ellie the Ace.’ The €4.5 million series project was pitched this week at Cartoon Forum in Toulouse, France.

Dark Sky Acquires ‘Let Us Prey’
26 Sep 2014 | MPI Media Group’s Dark Sky Films banner has acquired the U.S. rights to ‘Let Us Prey’, an Irish horror feature from Brian O’Malley. The film has already been screened at, among others, the Edinburgh Film Festival, the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, at which it won Best European Fantastic Film, and the18th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival, where it received its Asian premiere. It sold-out its North American premiere at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival at which it received positive reviews.

‘The Missing Scarf’ to be released online
19 Sep 2014 | The Irish Film Board’s animated short ‘The Missing Scarf’ has so far had a very impressive year. Altogether, the film received 16 international awards including wins at the San Francisco Film Festival, Savannah Film Festival, Valladolid Film Festival, and many others. The film also landed a nomination for the upcoming European Film Awards.

An Bronntanas Begins Theatrical Run in Clifden
10 Sep 2014 | Locally shot film An Bronntanas / The Gift will be screened in the Station House Theatre in Clifden, Co.Galway from 10th to 16th September. The film is directed by Tom Collins (Kings) and produced by Ciarán Ó Cofaigh and Tom Collins for ROSG and De Facto Films. Members of the cast and crew will attend the screening of the film on Saturday 13th to present the film and have a chat with the audience.

‘Patrick’s Day’ Wins Finders Series Award
26 Aug 2014 | Terry McMahon’s film ‘Patrick’s Day’ has won the coveted Screen Directors Guild ‘Finders Series’ Award. The award – presented to only one Irish film a year – will see the Director’s Guild of America host a screening of ‘Patrick’s Day’ for an audience of industry insiders at the legendary Directors’ Guild of America (DGA) Theatre on Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles on October 10th. It will be screened to key distributors and film industry representatives in an effort to gain a US distribution deal.

'Life's a Breeze' secures US Release for Autumn
19 Aug 2014 | Lance Daly’s film Life’s a Breeze, starring Fionnula Flanagan (‘The Others’, ‘The Guard’) and Pat Shortt (‘Garage’, ‘Calvary’), will be released in the United States on September 19th. The film will be released in Los Angeles and New York as well as VOD, followed by a national rollout. The feature is a Fasnet Films production which Daly directed, wrote and produced, and Macdara Kelleher also produced.
