Wild Bunch brings ‘Strangerland’ and ‘Jimmy’s Hall’ to Cannes
06 May 2014 | Paris-based sales powerhouse Wild Bunch is heading to the Cannes Film Festival with a number of international titles, among them Irish-Australian co-production ‘Strangerland’ and ‘Jimmy’s Hall’. The latter film was chosen as part of the Official Selection in this year’s festival (read the full story here).

‘The Good Man’ to be Released Internationally
06 May 2014 | ‘The Good Man’ has been given a national release and is now being shown in the Queens Film Theatre, Belfast. It will then be released on DVD and iTunes from May 12th in Ireland, the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The film opens in cinemas in South Africa later in the month.

Irish Rom-Com ‘Standby’ Acquired by Magnolia
02 May 2014 | Magnolia Pictures International has announced that they have acquired world rights to Irish romantic comedy ‘Standby’. The feature is directed by Rob and Ronan Burke and stars Jessica Paré from ‘Mad Men’ and Brian Gleeson (‘The Stag’, ‘Love/Hate’). Magnolia previously acquired ‘Frank’, which is out May 9th, for worldwide distribution.

Northern Irish Documentary ‘Road’ gets UK Distribution
22 Apr 2014 | Directed, written and produced by Diarmuid Lavery and Michael Hewitt, sports documentary ‘Road’ has been acquired for distribution in the UK by indie distributor Kaleidoscope Entertainment. The deal was negotiated with British sales banner The Works International. It is hoped that the film will have a release in June.

'The Sea' Sets Sail for Irish Cinemas this Friday
16 Apr 2014 | Nominated for four IFTAs, including Best Film and Best Leading Actor, and winner of the Best Supporting Actress award for Sinéad Cusack, ‘The Sea’ is a drama about a man who returns to the sea where he spent his childhood as he tries to accept the deaths of those he loved as a child and as an adult. John Banville wrote both the original Man Booker Prize-winning novel and the adapted screenplay, while Stephen Brown directed the film in his feature debut.

‘Frank’ Sells Internationally
02 Apr 2014 | Protagonist Pictures have secured a vast number of global deals for Lenny Abrahamson’s feature film ‘Frank’, following Magnolia acquiring the film for distribution in North America (read the full story here). ‘Frank’ is a comedy about a wannabe musician who finds himself both in peril and in awe when he joins an electric rock band with a mysterious papier-mache head-wearing leader.

‘’71’ Sells Around the World

US Rights acquired for Northern Ireland-set Feature ‘’71’
11 Mar 2014 | Roadside Attractions and Black Label Media have acquired the U.S. distribution rights to ‘’71’, a thriller set in Northern Ireland directed by Yann Demange. The feature premiered last month at the Berlin Film Festival at which it generated much talk. It is being considered for an early 2015 release.

KGB Screen’s ‘Made in Belfast’ secures Sales Agent
11 Mar 2014 | Following the success of their first feature film, the romantic comedy ‘Made in Belfast’, KGB Screen has signed a representation deal for the film with The Little Film Company. The Little Film Company is a worldwide film sales and marketing company that also theatrically distributes, finances and executive produces independent motion pictures. It has offices in London and Los Angeles and its credits include Irish co-production ‘Cherrybomb’ and rockumentary ‘It Might Get Loud’.

Irish distributor Wildcard picks up ‘Love Eternal’ and ‘Run & Jump’
12 Feb 2014 | Announced at the Berlin EFM, Wildcard Distribution has acquired the UK and Ireland rights to dramas ‘Run & Jump’ and ‘Love Eternal’. It was also announced that ‘Run & Jump’, which is currently on release in America and for which IFC owns the US rights, will see its Irish release on May 2nd. The Dublin premiere for the film is taking place at JDIFF.

07 Feb 2014 | Entertainment One Films (eOne) has acquired the US distribution rights to ‘The Grand Seduction’. The Canadian comedy premiered at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival five months ago and stars Brendan Gleeson (‘The Guard’, ‘Calvary’) in the lead role.
